Special Educational Needs at Mayfield
Our Inclusion leader, Ms Thomas, works with a skilled team of teaching assistants who support children with Special Educational Needs . Her team of staff are trained in a number of areas including speech and language, play therapy, occupational therapy andMakaton.
The class teacher or Inclusion Leader meets regularly with parents and carers to keep them informed of their child's progress and to share the next steps in their learning.
We have an art therapist who works with individual children. Our professional and highly confidential school Counsellor works with parents and families and supports them through difficult times.

Children who speak English as an additional language
Children are supported in school with intervention and additional help if they arrive with no English.
