What are the things that make Mayfield unique?

The aspects of school most commented upon by visitors and parents are the welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the behaviour of the children and the dedication of the staff to ensure every child reaches their potential. Children make really good progress at Mayfield.

We are lucky enough to be moving into a wonderful new building in August 2018 so our building will match our ambition for our children!

What is the ethos of the school?

Our school is welcoming, caring, safe and supportive.  Children (and staff) are happy and enjoy coming to school.   Our parents and carers describe us as a small school with a strong community (family) spirit.  Our ethos embodies our mission statement - Striving Together for a Brighter Future - we work in partnership with our school community to ensure the best outcomes for all our children.

Children learn  in an environment of mutual trust and respect.  Teachers create classroom environments that are conducive to effective learning; calm, purposeful,  support risk-taking and encourage cooperation and creativity.

How many children go to Mayfield? We have recently expanded to become a 2 form entry school (60 admitted to reception each year).  We have space for 25 FTE children in nursery and offer a mix of 15 and 30 hour places in nursery.
What is the catchment area? Catchment areas don't exist in the way that they used to.  We attract families from Hanwell, Greenford, Boston Manor and West Ealing.
What is behaviour like at Mayfield?

We have a very clear behaviour policy and children are aware of expectations from when they start with us.  All children sign up to the Mayfield Promises when they come to our school.  These promises were produced in collaboration with the children and reflect our consistently reinforced values.

Is there a before and after school club? Yes!  An excellent private provider called Sunrise Kids Club offers wrap around on-site care.  Click here to find out more!
What other clubs does Mayfield offer? We have a variety of clubs offered throughout the year.  Some are charged for, some are free or heavily subsidised.  They range from Lego to Rollerskating, from Art to Gymnastics, from Drama to Karate.  Click here to see the club timetable for the coming term.
Do children have lunch at school?

Yes. Children can bring packed lunch or have a hot meal.  Our meals are cooked on site by Tina and her team from Harrisons. See a sample menu here!

Children from Reception to Year 2 are all entitled to a free hot meal.

It is important to check whether you are eligible for free school meals as your child could also be accessing other support. Check here.

What if my child has a medical need? We will work with you on a Health Care Plan to ensure that all staff are aware and that we can support your child in school.
How do you support children with special educational needs?

Our Inclusion Manager co-ordinates the support for children with additional needs.
