We have been awarded some funding to give twenty Year 5 pupils the opportunity of singing live on the pitch as part of a choir at The Olympic Park in Stratford before the Rugby League Autumn International match between England and Australia on Saturday 13th November 2016. A company called Chant Productions is providing an opera tutor to run a series of rehearsals at school to prepare the children for the performance. The twenty children will be joined by children from two neighbouring Ealing primary schools, and all of them will be part of a larger choir on the day. They will then get a chance to watch the game for free. Transport to and from the event will be provided for all of those taking part. The match will be featured on BBC Sport and there will be opportunities for families to purchase tickets to come along too.
Rehearsals will take place once a week for five weeks, during school time on Wednesdays, starting next week.
Chant is a unique music education provider. They combine sports and music by using stadia as theatres to enable young people from schools and community groups to perform live on the pitch before elite sports matches. You can find out more about them at www.chantproductions.co.uk.
